Default Comparing Martin 000-18 and 0000-18 -- Big Difference?

I've never even held a new 000-18; did play a 0000-18 and liked it alot, but it was't to be. Anyone who has played both and can offer an opinion…do you think the difference is that significant?

(Yes, Gruhn's has a 0000ge, but at almost double the price of the straight 000. And it has vee neck and long saddle; two things I'm not too sure about)

Anybody?

I'm trying to determine if it makes sense to hold out for a 0000, or just go with the 000.

Thanks

Cool

If it is THE GUITAR for you, go for it. Can't play every guitar in the world and you gotta go with what feels good.
GAS is good too...promotes the economy!
Good luck....you WIN with either of your choices.

I have no experience with the 0000 but love my 000-18GE. Don't be afraid of the long saddle -- I think they sound fantastic. And the V-neck is very comfortable once you have it in hand for a while. I much prefer it to the modified low oval. The scale length on these two guitars may be different, depending on the model and style. The 000-18GE is short scale and I think some of the 0000s are standard scale.

I've owned a 000-28H and 0000-28H and the difference was significant...

Really significant!!

The difference between short and full scale, plus the difference in size makes it hard not to have a big change.

Of course the 0000-18 is a custom, so it could be anything depending on who orders it.

I can't speak to the Gruhn 0000-18 but have the Gruhn 0000-28H and it's way better than the OM-21, OM-28V, or the OM-35 (IMO) I owned a while back. And the OM-28V is a fine guitar. Again...the better of the OM's listed IMO?

Is a GE long saddle compensated?
