Loar lh-309-vs?
hey guys/gals!
I am considering a first archtop/electric- a LOAR LH-309-VS and wondering if anyone here in "Archtops" could share thoughts/experiences with this make/model? 1. is it a worthy instrument? quality? 2. desired modifications? 3. case? 4. amp? 5. strings for a finger pickin' type- say some bluesssssss like (hey- maybe I will get around to something jazzzlike... ) 6. anything else to consider? thanksya! madhat. play it before you buy it, that's all I can say about that. of the Loars I have seen and played, they look good on paper in terms of specs. I have never been compelled to buy one.

I have a Loar LH 300 plays great, sounds amazing, very well made, and just plain pretty. like many arch tops you have to work a little to get the tone out of it, but when you do its worth it.
I added a finger rest to mine and that is about it. I found that it fit very well in a grand concert size case. |

thanks shark!
is the finger rest helpful because of the gap distance between the strings and top- and this feels more natural- maybe more similar to flat top when playing? or is it for aesthetics? the 300 and 309 are the same build correct? they sure look fun! madhat. |
