Question regarding Flamenco...
Do Flamenco players use altered tuning at all ?

Rondena tuning is D A D Gb B E
So like, drop D, plus lower the third string a half step to Gb

Sabicas used Dropped D for some bits eg Danza Arabe.
Paco De Lucia has used a variety of different tunings, I read for one tune I can't remember which one he used CADGAD. Modern flamenco guitarists, eg Amir John Hoddad uses a few open tunings, eg Rondena and I saw a tune of his in Open C. I think the 'new' generation use a lot of open tunings, eg Dani De Moron, Jeronimo Maya etc. A 'flamenco' (some think he isn't) guitarist Myrddin uses some really crazy Open tunings. Also DADGAD is gaining popularity. |

Flamencos also use standard tuning and capo it a lot. I recently picked-up a Planet Waves capo and find that I prefer it to the other brands for nylon strings, because you can dial it in with just enough tension to work right, but not pull notes sharp.
