And by the way, I love the fish. Sent a link to that photo to my friend who does art like that with wood scraps. Creativity is paramount for getting through a guitar build.

Love what you did with the heel. Did you use a bender or a pipe bender on the sides?
Thanks for sharing the build.

I noticed that too, very nice. I'm not sure I've ever seen that much time/effort on finishing a heel or neck block. I love the little touches.

Good old hot pipe with a torch. But I'm ready to make a few benders and get into that method. But I figured to learn it's best to do it by hand so you know what the wood can take.

Cheers,

Some more pictures of building the body. Unfortunately I couldn't get the picture of the fully carved bracing to load. I chose to scallop the bracing and do a 28 foot radius on the front and a 15 on the back. Made for a good sounding drum when all was said and done. Binding went well, EIR is a dream to work with for binding. Didn't want to go too crazy with lots of purfling, just the top was more than enough. Too many lines on this guitar as it is.

Cheers,

Cleaned up the binding with a scraper and assortment of sanding blocks.

Very happy how it turned out.

My only complaint about zebrawood and in particular this set is that any amount of detail that you do on the sides and back tend to be absorbed by the grain pattern of the wood. I wanted to do more purfling on the sides and back but all tests ended up looking stupid.

Getting the neck aligned and set.

Putting in frets. I use white glue, anyone have a better option or opinion?

Pour filler and clear coat were next.

I used KTM finish and applied by hand. Lots of sanding, and lots of really thin coats.

More to follow...

I know it takes longer, but I seem to like applying by hand. I should really get into french polish.

Bridge attachment. Thought I'd try out Titebonds Hide glue. Any opinions on using that product?

First few notes were music to my ears.

Final photo shoot to follow.

Cheers,
