Default Phoenix Guitar Company Classical Guitar

Since this is a new area to post customs, I thought I would post pictures again of my lovely classical guitar. It is Claro Walnut b/s, Western Cedar top, Bastogne Walnut binding, Spalted Maple Rosette. The Claro is amazing not only to look at, but the sound is absolutely amazing paired with the cedar. The cat paws for sound ports really added a nice touch. The wood inlay of the Phoenix on the headstock came out really nice too. And the pyramid bridge. Diane builds great guitars, and since I got it in July, it has opened up beautifully. I was so lucky on my first try to get my dream guitar....

And I think many will agree, that Walnut should NOT be considered an alternative wood. It is a great choice for a tonewood!! The guitar absolultely plays like butter. She is an incredible luthier.

I likey!

Is there a reason not to clip the strings? I'm not being snippy, I honestly don't know.

Cotten,

So funny you say that! Diane and George love to leave the strings unclipped. When I got her home, it was the first thing I did, clip those puppies off!

That's awesome. Those are the best looking soundports ever! And I agree regarding walnut, it isn't an alternate tonewood. It's a beautiful sounding tonewood that makes amazing instruments.

Jealousy...

Gorgeous guitar, Lisa. The wood is stunning, and I love the details like the Phoenix headstock inlay - beautiful. Glad to hear it's worked out so well for you

Just an update.

This guitar is maturing beautifully. The cedar top and Walnut b/s has worked out to be a winning combination. The sound is full with wonderful volume. I would build with these woods again. Certainly not the traditional Rosewood/Cedar combination, but I can tell you it will not disappoint if you decide to go with it.

Diane builds some beautiful guitars. Small luthier with still very reasonable prices too. And don't forget, those of you locally, they have their build classes too!
