My New Brackett
I just received my 2nd Brackett Instruments guitar today. It took a month or two longer than anticipated, but considering Woody was knee deep in another project, and I (and my bank balance) were in no hurry, it worked out well.
This time, he built Spruce over Black Walnut - complements the Claro Walnut used on 'Carol Ann'. After I let it climitize in the case for a few hours, I took it out and strummed an 'A' chord. It has beautiful sound - lots of 'acoustic' bass and tingle on the trebles. I don't have enough experience with the big brands (Martin, Taylor et al) to be able to make a comparision, but the body size and nut width make it a joy to play fingerstyle. I'm working on some pics. I am a very happy man

Woody is a great guy and has helped me a lot in the past with my own "DIY" guitar (which I am still working on ). I really like his guitars, especially the koa one he made and posted his processes on this forum.
Would like to see the pictures. |

Here's the only finished picture I've got on this computer.
I've got some more pictures on my other computer, but I'm not at it right now. I'm looking forward to some pictures from the other side of the Border. Shipping guitars always scares me, but especially when border crossings, and customs are involved. I hope the customs agent enjoyed playing it. When I boxed it up I de tuned it 1 step. When Shadowraptor recieved it it was tuned to pitch. (I think that's cool, since it arrived in one piece) Here's a recording of it, made the day before it was shipped. Shadowraptors Sitka/Black Walnut Dread Maybe Shadowraptor can make some more recordings. This picture, from the "Shop pictures" section of my website it this guitar during construction.

Hey guys.
I like the back stripe against the subtlety of the black walnut. I'm often surprised by how the grain on black walnut varies so. Woody: from the looks of your work bench, yours and mine could be related

I noticed a slight wedge on the body depth... very nice.
