Default why do people post topics they know are argumentative?

then indicate that they are not doing it to start an argument? of course, arguments abound.

are they laughing out loud when they post such? i don't get it.

play music!

I have a co-worker that we jokingly call Maytag because he is always agitating somebody or something. He does it for laughs (and in all fairness, he is not mean about it). Sometimes I think some of our fellow forum members fall in the same category. Of course, on a forum, no one can be quite sure it is done in the spirit of good fun, or to be a troll.

I tend to give folks the benefit of the doubt. My blood pressure is happier that way!

Because they are passive/aggressive by nature. Have no power or authority at work or at home and have to take out their frustration on someone by antagonizing them. Am I close???

"Guys, let's discuss the current membership of the US Senate. But please let's not make this political."

"Guys, what's your church like? Please remember not to discuss religion."

I've seen some threads not too far off from that kind of thing. It reminds me of people who upload copyrighted movies to YouTube and say in their description: "No copyright infringement intended!"

Aside from instances of outright trolling, I think that members often see their own OP in a less controversial manner than other members or moderators. As in most situations, it's the difference between our own perception and that of others....
