1943 Gibson Banner LG-2 player grade **SOLD**
Wonderful old worn BANNER Gibson LG-2. This one has been played and loved. Beat, but all original as far as I can tell. Tuners may not be original but are OLD.
$2600 shipped with case, It shows considerable playing wear and it has multiple back cracks that have been glued but not cleated. They are tight but look rough/sloppy. There is considerable finish wear on the sides. Gorgeous firestripe pick guard. Older non -original? Kluson tuners. Full sized neck. 1 3/4" nut width. 1/8" string height at the 12th fret. Mojo to spare!!! FON is very faint, but it looks to be a 1943. No truss rod. Body has mucho crazing, dings and wear. Finish is flaked off a bit on the sides. neck angle is not perfect but it is certainly playable as it is. I just took it to my luthier, Dave Dick of D String Guitar Repair in Sturbridge, MA. Here is what he said: Notes; I have inspected this guitar. It has a number of issues. The bridge is cracked along the back edge towards the treble wing. The bridge plate is worn and some top bracing is loose causing excessive top crown. There are cracked back braces. Several back and side cracks. The neck angle is very poor and would require resetting. Due to these issues I have priced it reasonably. Comes with non-original, clean, modern hard case. No returns. the bridge isn't original anyway
...so replacing it isnt a bad thing. the tuners are not original but look like klusons from the 50's or later. great looking guitar. i have a '44 i love. good luck with the sale. these are really sweet guitars and Dennis Berck could get this one working mighty fine!
