Thanks for the suggestions so far everyone, still hunting however I forgot about Gretsch guitars. I did play one of their little concert guitars in store recently. Suprisingly really good for a lam b/s. Thanks for the reminder!

Is Pono still using that ugly scarf joint on their necks? I considered buying one until I saw that. There are ways of doing scarf joints (Taylor and most classicals) that do not visually detract for the instrument but having it at the 3-4th fret would drive me nuts.

I have a very nice, nearly new Taylor 712ce 12-fret for sale: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...ighlight=712ce
Unfortunately it's a bit over your price range, but maybe you can have a look anyway? |

Hey Beveritt, That's a gorgeous guitar!
But yes over my price range. I'm looking at two guitars right now, the Wechter TO 4818 or a Recording King ROS-647 which are sub 1k. That's where I'm a little more comfortable. Thanks though. |

The Taylor method is much less noticeable. To me the Pono method reeks of cheap shortcut even if they do say they're preserving lumber. Can't think of any other makers who do this. It looks much nicer done the way Taylor and most classical builders do and it makes a much stronger neck. I'm sure you can't feel the joint on the Pono and I'm sure the glue joint will hold forever but I just don't care for the look. Just me.
