Default One Dime Blues

In my quest of perfection within the boundaries of total mediocrity I present One Dime Blues from Toby Walker's E-Pack lessons.

I can't play it as fast as Toby, so I went with what I have.

A fun song to play and I was actually able to memorize it. Its recorded with one mic at the 12'th fret and then I cut the bass post recording a bit. Now if I can get my fretting hand to stop making so much noise on the back of the neck I'll be good. Talcum power maybe?

One Dime Blues on a Gibson J-45 with Santa Cruz low tension parabolic strings.

That sounded very good, Barry!

Talcom powder might be just what you need on the back of your neck. It's probably hot where you are and getting sweaty tends to add more noise like that. Things get sticky.

Overall the sound was good, even with the noise from your thumb on your guitar's neck.

Thanks Glenn, it's not hot, I'm just not that hot of a player, .

Time for me to start to pay more attention to the presentation and not just the learning and execution.

I'm going to try a little bit of powder tomorrow and see how it works out, but I think I should try to get a little quieter through better technique too.

I think I like the one mic sound better. Not as much "room" in the recording I think.

sounds good!

The sound of your thumb doesn't really bother me to be honest.

Slides 'n all that are just part of the instrument, me thinks =P

Actually, I wasn't all that bothered by the thumb noise on the neck, either. I thought it came out very well!

Etta Baker would have been quite proud there Barry. Nice job indeed.

Thanks for listening Marty. How is your Alvarez 00 doing? Are you going to replace it? Weren't you tracking down a Breedlove at one point?
