I have a Soundseat and it was one of the best investments I have ever made related to my guitar playing. It cost more than some of my guitars and less than others, but my back problems eased and it has enough adjustments to keep me playing comfortably for longer periods of time.

Highly recommend Soundseat! Added note: I thought that J. R.'s wife got the business going again after his passing but maybe that did not happen. Too bad if it is out of business.

Best,
Jayne

Hi c-man...

Nothing better than a SoundSeat, and the extra wide one is amazing.

All leather (top, sides and back) and my 2005 doesn't have a snag, crack or sign of wear on it.

We own two - one for our computer center and a short one (I have short legs) for my teaching area.

Much more comfortable than the best Roc-n-Soc drum thrones, which when I teach 90 minute lessons or do long rehearsals put legs to sleep.

I use an old wooden folding chair that belonged to my wife's uncle. The chair is probably close to 100 years old and the back and seat are oak slats. I restored the chair a few years back and have been using it ever since. You wouldn't think it would be comfortable, but it is. I'm in my 60s and can sit in it and play for hours with no discomfort.

Every once in a while you can find them for sale on Ebay.

Hi LJ...

I'm 59, still in good physical shape and don't have a big to large rear end. I find the SoundSeats to be too much chair and prefer the Roc-n-Soc Nitro. Much more comfortable for me. They are fully adjustable and have a gas shock that gives it some spring. To be fair, I can't sit anywhere for 90 minutes straight without feeling the need to get some kind of activity.

Just to say too that my chiropractor recommends that noone sits for 90 minutes solid! Her recommendation is that whilst playing you should have a short break every 20 minutes - get up, move and have a stretch. Also shake out your fretting hand and gently stretch it backwards, get the blood flowing back into your wrist.

I love my SoundSeat. Not cheap, but fully worth it to me.

Sitting in it, my fretting hand will tire out before my back does.

Same here. I use my SoundSeat all the time. For me, a good investment.

I for one prefer a 24 inch bar stool.

I also cast a vote regarding the virtues of a SoundSeat. Without doubt, it is the best non-instrument investment made for my musical hobby!
