Just thankful that I am one of the 1 in XX number of people who ended up being a player of these magical, mystical 6-string beauties.

That, and now having a place where I can come and talk and people know what the hell I'm talking about.

Hope everyone had a wonderful day.

That in 40 years of playing I've never let it slip away.....it's one of the major things keeping me in the game right now....

Many things, a tolerant wife for sure, she has never given me grief when I rolling in 3-4am from a gig. And thankful for my musician buds, we play music every week and have great fun doing it.

So rewarding to change the right brain, busy day.
Playing acoustic never gets old.
Break up the day in a healthy way.

Thankfully I was drawn to these instruments as a child.
In turn this has given me quite a bit, and sometimes music, to be thankful for.

I am thankful that 51 years ago, my Mother and sister believed in me enough to go in with me on my first nice guitar (a Gibson ES-335). I was a poor kid from a rough neighborhood; my two previous guitars were pretty lousy, but that 335 made me want to be better. It was that guitar that kept me in music instead of getting involved in more nefarious activities. In those early playing years, I was in a band with good kids from solid families. It makes a difference.

These days, I'm grateful to have a reasonably leisurely life - time with my wife to do what we want, and time to make some music each day.

The free time to play, my need/interest/curiosity to pick up an instrument and learn how to play, and the financial ability to get a good instrument. All music teachers, mentors, and recording artists as well.

Many guitar players have influenced me and helped me to grow as a player, but I am really grateful for hooking up with Scotty Anderson back in the early 80's.
Became friends and watched him perform for years and set in with him a few times.

Thanksgiving: What are You Musically Grateful For? Wow! My musical thanksgiving is far too diverse for a quick, easy answer to this seemingly innocent question. I love most of the popular music of the 60s, for instance, from Peter, Paul and Mary to the Beatles, Beach Boys, or Stevie Wonder or the Supremes. Here is an interesting article about this flavor of music I am thankful for. http://www.thepeoplehistory.com/60smusic.html

But that is by no means the extent of it. I am weird, I know, but I am also thankful for orchestral music https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_50...lassical_Music, opera https://www.ranker.com/list/best-operas/bustermcdermott, Early Music from before the Renaissance on, such as this Bach Brandenburg Concerto https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAFJXPWjKJ0.

But wait. There's more! What about the use of the technology of today to evoke feelings? That is good, too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5yxIzs5Wug Okay, but what about Bluegrass? Sure! Better yet, mix it with a little AC/DC and have a band from Finland show you how it would sound! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4Ao...PXgo-A4M7XgH7Y

Don't forget the ethereal sounds of a boy choir https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRwhkBAeheM, or
a didgeridoo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzMsoz4XIkM or
alphorns https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...A5B5&FORM=VIRE.

But don't miss the happy, sometimes poignant sounds of
a nice little Polka https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...53&FORM=VRDGAR or
a fun little Mariachi band https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7eScKiiD4c or even
Rap https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...3467&FORM=VIRE

Of course, I love guitar music, soooo

Manzers Medusa in Henrik Andersens hands https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbEJjuJJzhg
Tiny Professionals from North Korea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXsqQTY9wW4

But we haven't even gotten started on scratching the surface of the great music out there waiting to be enjoyed! Some instruments might be unfamiliar, but that doesn't mean the music is not beautiful! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAJj3OdWH3U
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46w99bZ3W_M&t=7s

What about the largest musical instrument in the world? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QN9biZdtvLw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CQgzqYuo04

Okay, I will stop, for now. But there is far more great music out there for me to limit myself to just the most familiar. For this I am indeed thankful!

That my 65-year old hands and ears still work as designed.
