Yes it is! Glad those days are over, frankly. I put my time in for some 20 years and don't miss it one bit!

We've had years where the number of dogs and people were even at seven but today it will be four humans and two dogs!

We were the company today, and loved it! Great food, great fun (picture a 5-foot high pile of dry leaves and 6 & 10-yr. old granddaughters), warm memories, much thanksgiving, and more love than I might have dreamed possible.

Likewise - we were the company - at my daughter's home. Spent the day monkeying around with my three grandchildren teaching them to make all sorts of obnoxious noises

Sorry, I am not a dog person. My in-laws - and they're here - but no dogs. Too high maintenance.

BTW, they're trying to push a dog on my 10yo but he's had allergic reactions and doesn't like being jumped on. I'm with him: keep the smelly, drooling mutts away.

That's not to say that I feel dogs are useless. My older son is severely autistic and would likely benefit from having an autism service dog, but the training required makes the cost prohibitive without financial assistance. They still need to poop outside though.

Getting back on the inlaws - and I won't talk about the smell of their poop - but this is the first year in several that we're actually entertaining them over the holidays and I'm enjoying their company.

No company, and didn't feel like traveling the 950 to be with the fam this year.

So it was the wife, myself, our 3 cats and our dog Annie. It was nice and quiet.
Might do it again next year.

Just a joke, hence the smiley. Actually, I was blessed with pretty good in laws. The good thing is they live close by so we see them regularly. Of course living close means they go home too.
