It's a classic. I think it was from the first season? Les Nessman reporting as the turkeys are dropped out of the helicopter.

Arthur Carlson: "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly..."

I was watching that episode laughing so hard, I was crying!

Didn't Les report that the turkeys were hitting the ground like "bags of cement" or something like that?

We should give thanks to be old enough to remember the first time this episode aired and that we can still use a keyboard to complete a sentence. No mean feat, and yes, I am speaking for myself.....

We have a Les Nesman type newscast on our local college radio station. Can't stop laughing at the news.

That show was a crack-up! What's more, having worked in broadcast, I know people who represent each of the characters!

On a side note, a few years ago my brother decided to shave off his beard for the first time in probably twenty years. It lasted only hours. He said he finished up, toweled off, took a look in the mirror, and screamed,

"I LOOK JUST LIKE HERB TARLEK!"

Back came the beard.

A Mary Tyler Moore Productions product. Those were ensemble sitcoms that specialized in character development and running character based jokes rather than pushing the moral envelope.
