The only binding I like more than wood is ivory, however, it wasn't unusual in 1900.

Martin JDP II

Morris B-50

The Morris has Jacaranda back and sides, the back is 3-piece like a D-35, but the centre wedge is striped Maple.

My Andy Culpepper Flamenco Negra. Binding is a "redder" EIR than the back and sides, provides a nice, subtle contrast. The purfling is end-grain sycamore.

Kim Walker, with original 1950s Rickenbacker checkerboard binding and Kim's own mixture of glitter - gold, orange, red, and, of course, champagne - for the purfling.

That Walker binding is pretty amazing!

Here's my Baranik with spalted sap koa.

Baranik PX with unique ivoroid binding that's more like real ivory.

On and what the heck, here's some amazing purfling and a back strip by Howard Klepper, used on one of his guitars and donated for a Circa.

Larrivee does some beautiful wood bindings. I had an OM-09, with maple binding, that I should have kept. I remember the beautiful binding, in particular.
