Default Case Queens...

I got to thinking about this over the weekend. My buddy asked me whatever happened to my PRS. I told him that I still have it and he seemed shocked that I don't play electric anymore. Made me realize I have a few nice case queens.

What about you? Got any case queens? Anything you are considering selling because you just don't play it anymore?

Yes, my electrics. I "need" them but I don't like playing them by myself at home.

Same for me! I grew up a blues and metal player. Imagine that combo! haha.

My favorite guitar is still a good strat, but now that I'm pretty heavy into acoustic guitar, it's really difficult for me to "want" to pick up an electric.

None. Love to find them but won’t own anything that isn’t being used. If I buy a closet-queen, it quickly becomes a “player”.

My D-18GE has almost become a closet queen.
My Fender Coronado II Reissue bass is a closet queen.
My Guild B-50 doesn't get out much, except for recording.
An old Takamine EF349 hasn't seen the light of day in over a year.
My Guild GAD-G212 never gets any love, either.

Hmmmm .... might be time to unload?

I got rid of my electric band stuff some time ago.

Yep... I've got a 2006 Gibson LP Standard, numbered, limited edition. It's so beautiful that I don't want to mess it up. I have an "overimproved" Chibson that is so good that I don't miss playing the genuine Gibson and am not afraid to take it out of the house. I've also got a couple Stratocasters that I should sell. Why I have 4 now leaves me in bewilderment. What was I thinking? I gave one of my Strats to my buddy to use just to get it out of the house. I could even sell 3 of them and be ok. Overall I'm just not playing that much electric any more and I have more than enough guitars to cover me in any situation.

If anyone's intrested in my LP just PM me.

That's a really nice LP. My issue with electric is the noise. It almost even annoys me to sit and noodle on electric with an amp. That, and it just isn't fun to me anymore. It's almost worrisome given how many years I devoted to electric.

Sure, I keep a dozen or so in my guitar closet, which is in my guitar room where I keep another dozen or so guitars on hangers and stands. And in fact I just went though my collection and have decided to sell a few, as soon as I get around to it.

None at the moment! My two are in heavy rotation and will be with me for a long time (forever?), the third is my dad's, and I don't have an electric yet.

I can't imagine keeping a guitar that I didn't play *ever*, we just don't have the storage space to justify that, but if I loved it enough and played it infrequently that'd be good enough reason for me to keep it.

Not amongst the acoustics other than some project guitars which are waiting in line to be fixed up. I do still have two Supro lap steels (an Oahu Tonemaster and Comet Doubleneck) which do not get the playing time they once did. But I am not ready to let go of them. Part of it is that my Standel amp has been needing some work which I have been putting off a lot longer than I should.

Have a Gibson SG, an American Standard Strat, and a Gretsch 6119 cased and in my music room closet. I gave up trying to convince myself to sell them

"Closet Queens" <chortle>

I've got a number of "Safe Queens" - meaning guns that live in a safe and only rarely see the light of day... but my guitars are all in rotation.

If it doesn't get played, it doesn't stay.
