Default Can I rehydrate a guitar (body and neck) in a soft case?

Hallo I have to rehydrate a 30 years old guitar stored in a closed room. I need to rehydrate all the guitar, ca I do it in a soft case (with foam) with only a tube/snake humidifier inside the hole?

Try it - can't do any harm (although I suspect that a soft bag will be pretty useless for retaining humidity - a hard case would be considerably better).

Also, I'd shove a couple of home-made 'sponge-in-a-baggie' humidifiers in there.

Insert a slightly damp sponge into a ziplock bag that you've poked a few holes in.

If guitar case doesn't seal very well just check sponges more often.
When dry add water.

To make certain that you're not losing any moisture it would be best to get a large garbage bag to place the guitar & case in.

Check the proceedings every couple of days, and re-wet the sponge as needed.

I know people who actually use hanging suit bags to do this very procedure. They fashioned a hook inside the bag from which to suspend the guitar, and in the bottom of the bag they placed a dish of water. Then they closed the zipper.

It's much faster than the sound hole sponge, or Dampit as it's called.

That's what I use, but I've got hard cases. The soft ones don't hold in the moisture as well. I cut a good quality sponge in half and put 2 or 3 half sponges in a well-holed ziplock. You can regulate the humidity to some degree by how much water you squeeze out of the sponges. Those dampits don't give you enough sponge surface area. I just put the bag under the headstock - the moisture eventually gets throughout the case.

GC puts guitars in large plastic bags with sponges to rehydrate them before working on them.
