Well, not a D-18, but my 000-18 has really come alive with Retro monel's,
crisp & clear. (my caveat is that I also wear hearing-aids !!)

I have used J17's, DR Rare, and Monel Retro TR's on my 2016 D18. I like the Monels best. It sounds like I need to try D'Add nickels at some point.

I've got a set of DR Sunbeams on it now and they sound really good. I will try the Retros. For the record, I already have used Retros on other guitars. Just asking about the D18.
