Congrats HHP.

I'm sort of looking forward to retirement, some time within the next few years.

I like my job, I'll miss it.

Sort of.... Kind of..... lol.

It was a tough call. They had a portable car jump starter and a turkey deep fryer that were awfully tempting but those bright back some unpleasant memories from my working career.

I always thought it was weird that the traditional retirement gift was a watch. Why would I want a watch to celebrate the time in my life when I no longer need to know what time it is?

Congrats HHP! I'm not too young to retire, I'm too poor to retire.

Congratulations to anyone who lives to retirement age.

When it comes my time, being self employed, there won't be any gift or fanfare, just a quiet closing of my music lesson studio. There isn't really a business to sell, I work from home, but if there's anyone around who would benefit from my student list I'll likely hand it over. There will be some gear to sell but nothing major.

I'll get the Canada Pension and some proceeds from my retirement savings, and my wife will likely still be working, so we'll manage.

I could retire next year (I'll be 60) but won't. The plan is to cut back to maybe half time for a couple of years and ease my way out.

No watch. I won't need one very much.

Didn't get a watch, but a nice BIG fat check when my position was "eliminated".

Okay by me as I saved a lot of e-mails and correspondence which showed deliberate and obvious bias against me (American Manager ) from Japanese management. Once confronted and threatened with litigation, company folded like a cheap Kimono and opened their back account.

Happily retired.

Got a watch a year and a half ago, after 34.5 years of pensionable, and a couple of unpensionable, years with our federal government. The numbers all fell off the face, except for the 12 and 8. My Jeweler laughed when I asked him for his opinion of the watch. No complaints though, the freedom is great and the pension is great (although I had to pay over $300,000.00 into it as deductions from my pay over my career). Thanks to my Union and progressive governments that have come and gone over the years...

Enjoy your new watch! I received one for my 10 and 15 year anniversaries that I spent with my previous employer.
