My guess is that I might tell someone it is a tree guitar vs THE tree, they MAY be able to tell the difference between Figured hog and my little black and white guy

Rosette
I just realized that I didn't post the rosette pics...so...
After much discussion about the rosette, I decided I really wanted something about this guitar to have a slightly more traditional slant. John has done this rosette on another guitar that I admired, and so I decided to make it part of this one also. The idea was to, in an overall black and white theme, to have some "bling" factor yet somewhat understated...well, understated to me ha! We added a touch of red to it to highlight it all. John did a GREAT job of adding the cool segmented red highlights to this don't ya think? He's a very creative guy!! In addition, you can't see it in the photo, but the diamonds are white, the dots are gold MOP. This coordinates with his "K" logo that is also a combination of White and Gold. Here are some progress shots:

Looking good. I love the diamonds and dots. Reminds me of the Stauffer type Martin rosettes.
If I'm not mistaken, that rosette is similar to John's maple guitar that he brought to Santa Barbara? That was a lovely guitar, and this one is shaping up to be just as lovely. |

Nice job on the rosette!
It really goes nicely with the K logo inside and the overall palette of the guitar. This is going to be one schweeet guitar!

Thank you David! John's creative eye saw something that many of us including me would have missed.

Thank you! This coordinating K and rosette was all John's idea. John reminds me a bit of Superman...underneath that calm cool exterior resides a man with all kinds of spunk and creativity. He hasn't pulled his shirt open yet to reveal the big "S"...and you'll be glad to know I haven't asked him to either ha! But if he did, my guess is that it might not be an "S" but a big "K"...two tone of course

Inside looking out...a pretty view.
Yes, it's an inside job. Solid lining and bevels etc are in.

Mike, this guitar looks spectacular on all fronts (and backs and sides and...)!! I'm really excited to see it all shiny under finish. I'm a big fan of the dual bevels. At first the rib bevel on my Stehr seemed like an unnecessary extravagance, but after having it, it would be hard to imagine another without it. Coming along in amazing fashion, looking forward to checking in on additional progress!

I love a guitar in this stage, "in the white". Or would that be "in the black and white"? Even though no bindings are on yet, there is such an elegance about the shape, the unfinished woods, the instrument emerging.
Looking great guys! SK |
