Default 3D printed guitars

Posted to the carbon forum since carbon fiber guitars are one of (if not "the") latest "new" materials to build guitars.

What about tomorrow?

Here is a 3d printer that can simultaneously print up to 6 materials:

https://futurism.com/videos/meet-the...816c-246594145

So, maybe a synthetic guitar with amplification and electronics printed into the body of the guitar?!?

For "classical" guitarists, how about a guitar custom shaped for holding so that no guitar support is needed? Or maybe a traditionally shaped guitar with the guitar support built onto the guitar as part of the guitar?

I can't help but wonder if Alistair is already experimenting, or at least reading up on these new technologies.......

Anyone else know of any experimentation with 3d printed guitars?

A quick google search finds this:

https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news...d_guitars.html

Only one of the "12 most amazing 3d printed guitars" appeared to be an acoustic guitar.

Cecil;

Thank you for taking the time to bring this material to the forum. A month or so ago I saw an article about a car made with a printer. It's a wonderment.

And it sounds remarkable, as played towards the end of this video.

Very cool! I was surprised at how good the final product sounded in that video. Thanks for posting, Cecil. As a mechanical engineer who minored in manufacturing (although 32 years ago) this stuff just fascinates me.

The guitar pictured below was made in a replicator aboard the star ship Enterprise NCC-1701E. Being able to reconstitute matter and produce anything out of pure energy is going to be convenient.

Until then a 3D printer will have to do

I don't see why this technology could not be developed to re-create any material ..i.e.wood, gold, diamond, ivory etc., if one could fabricate the molecular structure.

The aspect of this (effectively the Startrek replicator) is that the value of currently valuable materials, and thence economics could change radically.

The concepts of wealth, and ownership could also change.

When replication makes the comparative scarcity of materials into a non-issue, then the energy required to replicate things will become the important "currency". I've thought about this concept a lot. As soon as a transporter is available, my use of airlines will come to and abrupt end forever. I like being places, but loathe the process of getting there.
