For anyone interested, using the Barbera in a dual source situation with a dual channel preamp like the SPS-1 is a viable solution.

Getting a percussive response from the Barbera isn't a real option. Mixing it with a ResoCoil type pickup or mic may certainly be.

I received this from Barbera...

"You can mix a soundboard transducer signal in with the Soloist.
You would want to keep the soundboard transducer gain level low however
or you will degrade the performance of the Soloist pickup.

I installed a K&K Trinity Mic and the results are excellent. I have a Schertler ResoCoil on order and will install that in about a week when it arrives.

Thanks for the observations, Jake. I'm considering the possibility of blending the Soloist with a Mini-Flex 2Mic.
