Default Couple of Good Movies Out Now

Saw a couple of good movies On-Demand in the last week of so.

Passengers - A sci-fi tail of a passenger in suspended animation who awakens a few years into a 120 year voyage. The other 5000 passengers remain asleep so he will be alone on the ship for the rest of his life and die before the journey ends. The premise leads to other story lines I won't detail so as not to spoil them but it is a very interesting and exciting movies. Sort of an interstellar "Gravity".

Live By Night - Ben Affleck stars in the role of a Boston gangster in the 1930's. Circumstances force him to move to Florida to run the liquor and drug trade out of Tampa. Kind of a different gangster flick, real good dialog and plenty of action scenes involving Tommy Guns. Affleck always seems to do best playing the "Southie" guy. Pretty good action movie and a change of pace from most of what's out there.

I just watched Passengers and agree that it was good...gonna try the other soon.
I also liked Collateral Beauty with Will Smith very much, I really like his movies.

We skipped Passengers because of "meh" Tomatometer readings. We were not bowled over by Ben's movie. The movie was good but he was as annoyingly monotone as his brother Casey was in his big movie ....Manchester By the Sea.
They can both do better !

Looking forward to Charlize (star and co-producer) in Atomic Blonde .
Ghost In The Shell is coming up....

In his defense, Southie gangsters are not known for their flamboyant, expressive personalities. Liberace would not have been one of Bulger's guys.

Good old Tommy, haven't seen him in a film in quite a while. He's the brother of Tim Gunn and Anna Gunn but changed his name due to SAG rules.
He's known as getting overheated and some of his lines seem delivered staccato, but many actors have a hair trigger, so don't want to give the rumor mill any more ammunition.

(I'm sorry, I'll go take my meds now)

I was initially reluctant about "Collateral Beauty" because of the reviews. But I saw it the other night and I loved it.
