I figure it's a combination of them being fairly easy and me knowing them well after decades of radio play. Whatever the case, I sure appreciate them writing a bunch of songs that I can "click" with.

This week's selection is "New Kid in Town."
The Eagles were great! I never get tired of playing their songs and Don Felder is one of my favorite guitar players as is Joe Walsh..

When I was a teen in the seventies they were one of the biggest bands around and it's neat to see younger generations discovering their music. They don't have bands around like that anymore..

I fully agree... Although I must admit The Eagles are my all time favorite band.

I with ya on this one. Bernie was one of my heroes growing up. I got his autograph at a concert once. What a great musician. And I think the reason he's back with the Eagles, on the final tour and making millions, is that he kept his mouth shut about his opinions about everybody. They had some disagreements but he didn't burn any bridges.

I guess I should confess that I don't fully get the Eagles slam. They wrote some great songs, they're fun to play (many are easy for beginners, which is a good thing) so..................?

The Eagles, other than great guitar work on Desperado and Hotel California, are a VOCAL group - one of the best ever. Before auto tune. Better than CSN. Anyone can strum the songs - many of which are brilliantly written - even me. But almost no one can really sing them with the real harmony. That's what makes their body of work exceptional, and why they sold a bazillion albums.

They played our little town in Oz the other week, so they still do.

Walsh even went to my local music store, dropped a wad on a guitar, came back twice more for 2 more guitars and pedals, and made the owner very happy. He took pics, so it did happen. Seems he even picked up the same chinese Tokai LP cheapy that I got there a few months ago.

The Willis Alan Ramsey version. I'm sorry to go that far off topic, but if a song motivates you to play, then it's all good. I'm not much of an Eagles fan, but I may look over their hit list and find one to learn there too.

I go through cycles of interest on guitar and am in the midst of one right now. (I usually play the mandolin.)

Good try, but too late, those whose tastes are too refined for such pedestrian fare have already given a beginning player the idea that he's just not aiming high enough.
