Telecaster Thinline, with a slightly backset neck and .011s to give make it feel and play closer to my acoustics. My conundrum is: the Tele sound I like has to do with controlling light strings (think Jim Messina), and my setup makes that harder to do.

i don't have such an animal as it depends upon what song i'm working on and what part a particular guitar will be playing. i do leave out, for quick workouts, my strat, tele and les paul.

play music!

My go-to requires a power trio.

My SG is my everything heavy driving rock guitar. Also can do lead in some circumstances.

My Telecaster is my everything clean, slightly dirty, jangly, attitude machine.

My Ibanez 540SLTD is my lead guitar master, complete with Floyd Rose should it be called for.

Between these three there's really nothing that can't be done, well, besides acoustic duties, but my Taylor has that more than covered.

Carvin custom DC135, 25" scale, 14" radius, 24 frets, ebony, maple neckthrough, hardtail with string through, SS frets, and a 50's piw cap is the secret sauce. Even though having small hands/fingers, I like the real estate.

My American made Strat. The only electric guitar I've ever owned. I've borrowed several. Some for very extended periods (Gibson SG, a Les Paul among them).

My Strat is the only one I ever paid money for, and I'll never get rid of it. My son knows it's his, when I'm "done with it".....

What a great thread!

My go to guitar is my Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus LTD. Feels great in my hands and tons of tone.

My tele and Jackson are like totally different instruments and I can't play them for anything. Any thoughts on this would prove helpful.

Anyway it got me thinking what is your go to guitar? The one or couple that when you pick them up you immediately feel like you just caught up with an old friend?

As per my dilemma as you can guess the Les Paul and Explorer are mine. I'm curious to find out what yours are!

Thanks for reading!

My only two electrics are American Telecasters. One is a 92 I bought new. It has a Fender Lace Sensor Red in the bridge and a Blue in the neck. It has aged well and has a nice fat, mellow sound with lots of mojo.
The other is an 05 with a Lindy Fralin Blues Special in the bridge and a Classic 50's neck pickup. It's the brighter, twangier of the two. Both have maple necks and I like Ernie Ball Slinky .10s.
