Default First Recording of playing Electric

Ever since I started home recording in 2003 I have wanted to be able play
electric guitar leads to support my one man band productions. And so as bucket list endeavor, (as some may know) a little less than a year ago I got back into electric guitar after 47 years of playing acoustic.
And I finally decided to learn how to play lead and took some lessons .

So I thought I would post this example of the progress of that endeavor to date .

The song is cover of Shawn Mullins "California"
Some context:
This production actually started as a simple acoustic guitar and vocal recorded at the same time in one shot take to be used for a Youtube Video. But unfortunately being a neophyte at video it was not very good. So I decided to wing it, and use it as the start for a bit more complex production. And this is the result. For the electric parts I am using my PRS CE 24 and am mic'ing my Supro Titan Combo and Cab
This is the first mix

Thanks ,it has been a fun journey into electric and fun learning curve. Lead wise I am not where I would like to to be, but I suppose that is the fate of guitar players, a life long road to travel down .

Interesting. I had not thought about it or was actually trying for duplication, but I guess I have a somewhat similar singing voice. What I shoot for is just be true to to trying perform the way the song makes feel.

I Thought I would also post in the Show and Tell forum (probably to correct forum) but I thought it might have some interest here in terms of the electric guitar in context.
Also for anybody interested in the of recording electric guitar. I will probably post in the recording forum as well, with detail about the recording chain and process

And that is as it should be. I wish more members would share music.

Kev, it sounds great! Nice groove to it. I don't know who Shawn Mullins is but the feel of the song and the lyrics remind me of Neil Young.

There's a tiny bit of fret buzz in the last second of the recording that my ears immediately caught - I love it! Those are the little things that make recordings.

reeve : , Thanks

Dru :Thanks, Good catch on the buzz.

Shawn Mullins is a prolific and outstanding performing singer songwriter IMO . He is one of those songwriters that is able to make universally identifiable observations with great insight on the human condition, but in very simple words and unique story lines .
He has a unique singing voice as well as being a really good guitar player
And while his voice is consistently identifiable his songwriting can be quite diverse.
His hit single "Lullaby" which you may have heard, actually rose to number one on the "Adult Top 40" in 1998
Here is an example off his" Lite You Up" album
His song "California" with a Rock feel.

To this typical contemporary Singer Songwriter feel of "The Great Unknown" off his "My Stupid Heart" album
