8-string Baritone (video)
My friend Calle asked me to build him this 8-string Baritone. African Mahogany side and back. European Spruce top. 27" scale.
I had to wait til after the Easter with the delivery. On Friday Calle had the guitar package in his hands. As the first song he decided to play " Nearer my God to Thee" , 100 Years after the Titanic disaster! The Hymn is recorded on his Zoom on the table. Mixed with Baritone photos. It is a privilege to receive recordings like this on Your inbox after a guitar delivery! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-o0fRgsbgI olav www.loefguitars.fi |

Has a really nice mellow sound. I really enjoy your work. What gauge strings did you use for that (and brand)?

The "main"-strings are a John Pearse 017-070 Baritone set. As octave I started with 013 and 015 Newtone. These 013 + 015 are (in theory) too thin to be tuned down in a A-A. These Newtone strings are among the best I have had! olav |
