Yeah, Bob's been public about Andy being the guy down the line, but this announcement isn't likely that-as Bob tells it:

In fact even today, Bob's removed himself from day to day and focused on sustainability/tonewoods and other projects. Kurt Listug (co-founder) continues to function as "COO" and Bob is teaching Andy the manufacturing side. (OK Andy, now that you've created this, here are the principles I use to produce your creation at scale with quality.) Bob's already admitted there's nothing he can teach Andy about building better sounding guitars, and that Bob's contributions are "best playability" and "best consistency".

I'm a Taylor fan, but they've been prone to a bit of marketing puffery the last few years from time to time. One would hope Bob's quote about "biggest innovation" isn't hyperbole. I mean, bigger than the NT neck? It hints to some fundamental improvement. There have been rumors of new bracing, maybe that's it. And as someone else has noted, the accompanying guitar in that video is amplified, so could hint at some new preamp/amp also. I doubt it would be an ES replacement, but who knows. Such mixed feelings on the ES system out there, maybe they addressed that.

I also think beyond the "innovation", there may be other significant announcements like koa ukes, etc.

We'll know soon!

This reminds me of a joke: How do you keep a turkey in suspense?

Punch line: Tell you tomorrow!

Bluetooth interface so that your iPhone app can control all the parameters, wirelessly.

The crooked label placement is only to throw you off the scent.

They're introducing a fully robotic guitar.

Or as the ad copy would say "A guitar that really does play itself."

I hate speculation but can't resist playing this guessing game:

They released the Grand Orchestra X18 model a couple years ago so I don't think it will be another new model and that's not an innovation - they would have said that last time.

I think Andy's name will become the name on the label but that's not an innovation.

Taylor is hugely into electronics innovations. I dislike on-board electronics but they were so proud of ES2. I suspect it may be another electronic innovation.

I also suspect it could be a materials topic. Bob Taylor is very motivated on responsible material usage so this could be an alternate material or something.

OMG I didn't even think of that. What if it is like cloned wood, or lab created wood. This could get interesting lol

Maybe the crooked label is to acommodate another thing...
Like a new soundhole placement/shape? (Which goes along the new bracing idea)

What if they just filmed Andy working and that has nothing to do with the new product?

Maybe the label is really a treasure map to the location of the secret book of talent. That would an interesting innovation

I have a pre-powers 2011 914ce and I think it sounds great. It holds it's own against anything I've got at least.

Or, maybe it's the bracing that's crooked and not the label! Nah, that couldn't be it.
