go to that website aliexpress.com

it should bother everyone a tremendous amount.

The counterfeiting is somewhere between infuriating and worrisome.

Easily failing parts on your cars and airplanes and medicine in identical packaging (that is not proper medicine)

I think it would be pretty easy to tell the difference between real and fake elixirs.

They have a slippery feel to them that no other strings have. I can't see the coating on elixirs either though so I wouldn't go by that

Can you FEEL the coating? Because if you can't, I'd say it's not there. It's pretty impossible to not feel the coating if it's there. I reluctantly just switched back to a set of Elixirs because all other strings oxidize within days with the monsoon humidity here in Arizona right now, and it's like learning to play guitar all over again. My fingers feel like first-time skaters on ice with those slippery strings.

Everything on aliexpress is, doubtful at least in terms of quality and original branding.

You can even buy Brazilian rosewood with Ivory Martins and Taylors from that site, and Rolex watches, Ferrari racecars, in short, anything your heart desires and want to waste money on (all currency accepted).

My gut feeling tells me that even if there was a coating on those strings that it wouldn't be effective at all, although I've never tried them (nor will I).

The packaging would fool me for sure.
If that site gets my email, then I'm screwed.

If an aphorism attribution can go wrong it will go wrong.

Counterfeit medicine from China is rampant now. It looks real and is somewhere between ineffective and deadly.

How can anyone not be outraged that products are made in china with labels/decals/stickers that say "Made in USA"

It is a lie. there is no other way to describe that. Quite deliberately made in China with a label that says "Made in USA" or "Made in Paris" or "Made in wherever"

That proves the absolute level of thieving dishonesty.

I read a recent study that estimates 2% of the entire world's economy is counterfeit Chinese "products"

I buy my Elixers from Amazon and Strings By Mail. I buy on Amazon the ones that are "sold and shipped by Amazon." The ones I have received from Amazon and Strings By Mail have all been bona-fide. Amazon had them for $11.99. I just bought 2 sets tonight and the price was up to $13.
