You mean the double pickguard requires one to DRINK a lot of fine whiskey in order for it to look good? Kidding, but seriously, I think it's a great way to ruin the look of the guitar, but as others have said... YOUR guitar, YOUR decision! Best of luck!

In a word: "goofy". And if the top's gonna be covered with plastic, it might as well be knotty pine. JMHO

Here's the GA4 with entire top in tortoiseshell plastic. Complete protection. No need to worry about dings and pick scratches.

skillz aside, that is the look I like. Obviously from this thread, I am in the minority.

Believe me, I like it, too. I think it looks cool with the body shape. You just can't get there from the stock Taylor pickguards. Maybe you could order some sheets of self-adhesive pickguard material, and use the Taylor pickguard as a template for the lower part and come up with something original for the upper part (the part extending up to the neck that I, uh, drew).

I like pickguards in general. I don't understand why people get so excited about pulling them off. Furthermore, I like funky ones like Gibson Hummingbirds and J-200's and so forth. But we all have our preferences.

I'd say, "Go for it!" I've been wanting a double pickguard for my Taylor, but I just never got around to buying one.

Here's the actual guitar with the actual pickguard. I'm going to sleep on it before making it permanent, but I'm diggin' it. Thoughts?

Sorry ...ugly! Lungs? Wings? Or just plain ugly.
Well, you wanted opinions
But if you like it, that really is all that matters.

Blasphemy!
I keep waiting for it to start flapping and rise up in the air

Since you asked for opinions... I don't care for it but that's just me. It's yours so enjoy it how you want!

This is the most convincing example I have ever seen that makes a case for clear pick guards.
