Depends -if the electronics can come out without any holes or trap door ports -
thats Ok in my book - Even cutaways are OK .
Alot of the stuff i use to think was a deal breaker , is off the table -
what would be a deal breaker is anything that permanently alters an original guitar ( holes , volume knobs ) -that drops its value on the used market ---
thou Taylors with electronics are OK for the most part- becasue their common and sell new like that.

I don't like to diss any brands, but the wimpy headstock on Seagull guitars would prevent me from buying one, no matter HOW good it was. What WERE they thinking?:

I used to sell them at GC and people loved them. Good guitars for the $$$.

Aesthetic wise: anything with an autograph on the front. (Tommy Emmanuel, I'm talking to YOU!)

If a guitar doesn't have a setup that allows me to play it so I can evaluate it, I pass. I probably missed a guitar or two that was good, but I'll get over it

It allows the strings to run straight to the tuning post rather than being pulled to the side a bit as with other designs.

A minor point, but some feel it's better not to have that side pressure through the nut.

  • Trap door electronics
  • Special/unusual inlays (i.e. Martin's Seth Avett signature model)
  • Colored guitars, other than traditional sunbursts and maybe black
To that I'll add sapwood and runout.
