Default Heavy Jam on Acoustic 12 (an original)

At 7 minutes, this is the longest musical statement that I ever posted. This recording is old, but I still display a strong urge to explore new ground. All I ask is that you listen to it in its entirety. It's definitely unique and it's played on a 12.

Headset recommended!

After talking with Roy (Ranger1964), I decided to go back and revisit the original that had no effects. I did alter it slightly.

That was cool. Another nice soundscape. From reflective, to frenetic and a couple of spacey parts thrown in for good measure. I like the sound of that 12 string but would like to hear a tad more low end in the mix. A bit more "natural" sound of the guitar. For some reason i think that a more natural sound with the guitar, when juxtaposed with the composition and production might really give it a cool sound. WONDERFUL composition, playing and production!!!

Interesting use of effects in this one, and very good playing! A 12-string sound can be complex and interesting without effects so, Roy's (Ranger1964) comments got me thinking that maybe mic'ing the center and adding the effects to the sides might produce an interesting stereo image...just thinking out loud! You've inspired me to experiment! Thanks for sharing that.

The sound quality is not very good because this was one of my first attempts at recording long ago. It was a dynamic Shure mic going into a reel-to-reel. This was recorded long ago, probably in the late 70s. That's the reason why it will sound off. Of course now I have a much better set up.

But I just wanted to show where I was at back then. One thing for sure is that I did a lot more flatpicking. I'll try to get back into it soon. I just bought a Fender Roland G-5 VG Stratocaster.

LOL, no, it won't sound like acoustic once more, but that's just me. I love to mix and match stuff.

Thanks for listening!

Right, that was a recording from long ago. Hopefully I have improved with time. I mainly fingerpick these days, so I just wanted to give all of you a different side of my nature. I flatpick rarely, but once you've got it, it is never lost.

I don't know if I want to record this song again. It's more work than you can imagine, but it does have potential. It doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard. Maybe it was the way that I composed it. I did it in sections. I was also surprised that I didn't bust a string on the 12.

Thanks for listening, Bob.

Holy guacamole that's was recorded in the dark ages! Reel to reel? Just a few short steps for hot wax! Sometimes I lose perspective around here forgetting how long some of our members have been playing and recording. Wow, so you took a recording from the 70s and added the processing? Very cool indeed!

Everything was hardware back then... none of this convenient stuff on all these new IOS devices. I also rented an Echoplex back then for reverb. The thing was in a suitcase and it worked with a magnetic tape. So technology has gone far. The only way I could do all this properly is to record it again. My brain can no longer handle the output. Playing that 7 minute piece was like a Stream of Consciousness.

There were also times when I didn't play guitar. My longest time away from the guitar was 15 years. So I go back and forth.

Thanks for listening! I do have the raw recording without effects too if you want to check that out. Youll probably like that better. Let me know and I'll dust it off.

lol, so you have a hankering for the original?

The original was mono. I had to copy the right channel over to the left. Then I added a bit of bass as you requested. I also used Final Mastering Reverb. It was all subtle because I want you to hear it about the same as the day I recorded it long ago.

So let me know what you think of the Unplugged Version:

Way to make the most of that 12 string captain Kirk ! It is always fun to go back and listen to the older things we have recorded as we learn so much from them.

Thanks, Jeremy! I like trying out different things. I want to see the comments later when I post a flamenco song. I know a cool version of Malaguena.

As always, thanks for checking out my music.

Very cool noman. It is a really great composition. I like how it travels in so many direction. Sort of like a long journey, some up hills, some down hills, some twists and turns, and maybe even stuck in a bog once or twice, but in the end you reach your destination. It's almost impossible to compare with your processed version. The FX make a completely different trip. Bottom line is a great performance!

Ha! Ha! I took that out of my signature. I should at least be a moving target.

There wasn't a lot of music that appealed to me back then, so I decided to create my own music. It taught me a great deal about the forces at work. I also found it liberating to do something very fresh and different.

Thank you so much so for checking this out!

Original songs suffer on Soundcloud, so any ray of sunshine is appreciated!
