I haven't fallen for a single Modern Deluxe I've played. So for me the answer is no, because they aren't worth the price in the first place.

I’m with you on that. But I would add that I want the Ti truss rod in one too. :-)

I agree, Now I do have rather small hand (not sure if that matters ) BUT after playing and gigging an older Taylor 810 for years I just do not like the traditional Martin neck . So I have to admit for me anyway this Modern Deluxe series is probably to only reason I would consider buying a Martin I personally like the D 42 Modern Deluxe over the D 28 MD but $7400 is bit steep And $9500 for 37 authentic is definitely out of the question for my budget

At least the Martin MD's won't have binding issues.
PS. Sorry, I had to do it.

Will Martin's Modern Deluxes stand the test of time?
I doubt it - but one of those will look real good hanging on my wall next to the ALternative X, D-420, a few never-played X-Series "Cowboy" guitars, and a bamboo uke...

This thread is four and a half years old, and the number of Modern Deluxe models has expanded considerably in the interim, so it would appear as if the line has staying power. The Super D was like the Sitka Spruce Goose. We’ll see about the Inception.

Been playing my 000-28eMD almost exclusively for 9 months now. Rehearsing with it 2 or 3 times a day per week. Gigging with it.
It is settling in. I had to make a new saddle for it, not too long ago. But the tone, both unplugged as well as plugged in, is just amazing. And its so playable. I'm a small handed guy. Like a slim neck. My MD is not going anywhere. The price is a little steep yes. If it weren't for the price, I'd have more of em. |

Just from the name alone, it doesn't feel like they'll be timeless.

Yes. I honestly feel like the MDs are better than their standard series cousins.

It took me a good long while to get over the silly name and actually play one. I like them a lot.

My luthier referred to the Modern Deluxe series as polarizing, this post seems to support that. Youget a lot of great features for the money. I like mine.

There are people that like and people that don't like the Modern Deluxe. In thirty years there will be those that like them and those that don't. Is that the test of time?
