Default Problem with Fishman Prefix Plus T

Here's what happened:

I can't seem to replace the 9v battery. The negative terminal on the unit (a coiled spring) is somehow jammed, or caught, inside the female jack of the 9v battery. So when I try pulling out the battery, it just stretches the spring and won't separate.

Anyone else ever have this problem? How can I free the battery without damaging the coiled spring?

I haven't had this problem but have you tried rotating the battery a bit while both pushing and pulling on it? There's not much rotational room but maybe it'll free itself. Another thing to try is to get a small flat-head screwdriver and try to do a bit of prying or turning of the spring within the terminal. If you try these methods, and any other ones you can think of, you will get the eventually battery free. Try to be somewhat gentle in your endeavors so as not to damage anything. Good Luck!

Looks like a little judicious surgery is indeed in order, thanks. Worse comes to worse, if I destroy the spring I can always Gerry-rig a substitute. With hands of a sturgeon.

SpruceTop,

Circling back to report on a successful surgery. I was able to free the spring using a tiny screwdriver to pry it out. Not crazy about the design - a flat spring would have avoided it, but at least I know what to do if it happens again.
