Default Played a 1958 Jazz Master

This doesn't happen very often- my 73 year old guitar student brought in a true 1958 Fender Jazz Master, all original cream white body with metallic pick guard and tweed case. She bought it new back in the day. Played like a dream with super cool tones, must be worth over $10,000? Will post a pic next week-

First year for the Jazz Master. Not the usual instrument for a student who walk in with. Very cool.

Wow!

I've only ever admired Jazzmasters from afar until I picked one up to play in my local music store thinking it would feel/play more or less like my Stratocaster and/or Telecaster, but it felt decidedly different.

we can only hope to ever play one!
did it still have the mute aspect?
leo thought that jazz players would like it but most stuck with their tried and true gibson es175s.

a little history.

Wow... simply amazing.
I think one of my students is going to bring a
1950's Fender Tweed deluxe TV frame amp.
Its been in the closet for 30 years.
Ive seen them on Reverb for $4000.00 or so.

Yes, it had the mute aspect, the big tweed case is beautifully worn, faded, and has some stories to tell. She played in rock bands with it in the 50's and 60's

I don't know what's more impressive, the '58 Jazz Master or the 73 year old student. Sounds like the guitar has a nice history to it.

She played in an all girl rock band in Wisconsin in 1958, which was quite unheard of at the time. Funny thing is-- she is my banjo student. I freaked when I saw the case and claimed, "is that what I think it is?"

That's just so cool on so many levels.

Wish I saw this post yesterday, but I was busy since it was a NGD for me - a Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster (the I blood one with block inlays). It's no '58, though!

Say - she wasn't in a band with the "Grandma Drummer," was she?

Here is the guitar, the owners name is Star so she added the insignia. Her mom bought it for her so she could play in a band called "The Tremolos" in 1958 when she was 16-- she paid her back every cent. They played Buddy Holly and pre-Beatles rock opening for Sam McCue shows.

That is possibly the best-looking 1958 jazzmaster I've ever seen. That's incredible. She's really taken care of it. Amazing story, amazing guitar. Definitely into the 5-figure range, value-wise.
