Default Stephen Strahm build for TAMCO UK.

My first build by Stephen Strahm is about to start. I am very very exited! Meeting him was one of my highlights of the recent Memphis Guitar Festival, I can still recall the superlative tone of his guitars clearly. He started out at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix Arizona and has worked in the Santa Cruz area for many years working with Rick Turner, The Santa Cruz Guitar Co, Adam Stark, Jeff Traugott and others. He comes highly recommended by Jeff Traugott.

This one will be in Italian spruce and Amazon rosewood.

Here's the first few photos.

While at SCGC, Stephen was the neck reset and refret guru. He and Joseph King, the brace carver/shaper, helped take the company to a higher level IMHO.

Default Wow stunning

The set looks pretty much like Brazilian.
Have you had other A. Rose guitars? What kind of tone do you expect from it?

No this will be my first. My expectations are based on Stephen's work that I saw at the Memphis Festival, more than the wood choice.

Default Hello.

I'd like to thank Trevor for putting this thread together for all of us to enjoy.
I'll be following along and hopefully add some insight along the way.

Alex-thank you for the kind words. My 9+ year span at SCGC was an adventure and I was privileged enough to have worked in every department. This ultimately landed me the service manager job where I did the repairs you mentioned.

Caleb- Amazon Rosewood(Dalbergia spruceana) is a hard and heavy wood similar to Cocobolo in density but less oily. The tap tone has a deep lower resonance with a bell like ring. To my ears it's very similar to Brazilian and I think tonally it's comparable as well.

Love the design aesthetic of this guitar. I look forward to following this build and hope that I can hear this guitar when it is completed.

Best,
Jayne

Cool rosette design, they look like dorsal fins circling the sound source.
