Yeah guys! When you open the box,all that you see are some plywood cutouts of the keel and bulkheads as well as many strips of wood of varying widths and lengths. You carefully align and glue the bulkheads to the keel and build the hull plank by plank until it is covered. To make the bends in the bow and stern it is necessary to soak the planks in a tall water jug for a few hours to prevent the wood fibers from shattering. Then you drill pilot holes and pin the wet planks to the bulkheads and allow them to dry. When dry you then glue them to the bulkheads.Little tricky but very fun to see the hull take shape.

Thanks! Here is the stern treatment along with the large rudder and preventer chain.(The chain limits how far the rudder can be deflected in a storm thus preventing the rudder from being snapped off.)

I saw "Ship" and thought WOW this guy must have a HUGE shop !
What the .... ...where is the sixty foot barn??

To some people the building part is more important than even doing something with the product.
What do you do with these when they are done?

Looking good!

I think you need a tripod for your camera. I keep taking my glasses off thinking they're dirty or something but it only gets more blurry.

Are all the models in your display case built by you? Are they all wood or some of plastic?

I'm going to continue where kydave left off:

Cause that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language....

Is that the mainmast you're preparing on the workbench?

Boy, that coping saw looks mighty familiar. I'll have to go see if mine is still in the drawer.
