From Sketch to...
Kent has completed the backstrip...
 The detail of the FLW glass screens can be seen. Unlike the rosette which is set against the Engelmann Spruce, the wheat pattern backstrip is set against the BRW so a touch of Bloodwood is added as a hue accent.  Here is the rosette from an earlier posting so you can see how things are beginning to tie together between decorative elements in the instrument.

A 3-sided box...
Kent has the top braced and attached to the lined sides. It appears that they use some strange aged organic solvents up there in the Northwest. It also looks like a crumpled sketch of things to come perhaps....

A binding choice from Bothell...
After some discussion back and forth, Kent has chosen to bind the body with an ebony binding with a mahogany purfling. It works well against the engelmann spruce top and ties well into the rosette details as well.
 It also mimics the three rectangular elements and ebony wheat details in the backstrip of the guitar. Being dark in value, it emphasizes the BRW and not the profile of the instrument as much as a lighter value choice would have.  On to the fingerboard (I believe)...

Very classy, with the unified design theme and artful use of woods. The Wheat motif is very elegantly done, and the craftsmanship looks perfectly clean. So, in other words, Kent is just doing what he always does
 !

Body is bound
Just to prove to the World that the sun does indeed occasionally shine in Bothell, Kent forwarded me these outdoor shots of the body. The South American Brownwood set is beginning to come to life. Kent's No. 100 is really going to be something special.

I really like the details on this guitar. Love the back strip inlays and the rosette. Everything is very consistent and nothing seems out of place. Well done!

End Graft
Despite feeling a bit under the weather, Kent completed the end graft. It is a mirrored glyph design using santos mahogany, bloodwood and maple in an ebony panel framed in mahogany. It is not installed yet but is shown here in place. You will see this design element reflected elsewhere in the design.

Headplate Veneer In Progress
Kent has now begun to craft a headplate veneer based upon a Frank Lloyd Wright glass screen design from the DeRhodes House. The FLW screens were designed to be clear and the colors of nature superimposed themselves onto the geometric patterns for the viewers inside.
 The design as shown is still incomplete, but you can begin to see the design unfold. The main veneer is ebony which is also used in the fingerboard, binding and decoration. The stylized tulips are Santos Mahogany and the light lines are maple. The edge purfling is in mahogany to match the body binding.  More when I get it...

Oh yeah! Looking amazing. I love how in this industry you can give an artist a bit of inspiration and he'll use it to create something to give you a bit of inspiration to create something.
