That DST12 .... was it at one time residing at TAMCO in Brighton? If so, I played it.

What a cool story on the salmon sitka. I learned something new with that one...I am hopeful that it will not smell of salmon however....Dennis, you are da man right now!!!

Dennis, Interesting story on the Salmon in the Great Lakes. I knew we have sport fishing for Salmon yet don't recal in my lifetime, any real commercial fishing around here. Do you know the time period this took place? And where specifically? This is also a long way for Spruce to travel from the west coast, is there a reason they used Sitka over say Red Spruce or Pine, we sure have a lot of that around here

I have had the pleasure of playing a few of Bill's guitars over the years. First rate in every respect. Congratulations and thanks for letting us share in the excitement! The Crescendo is a wonderful instrument.
Best, Jayne |

Dennis, you are on a roll! Congratulations amigo.
And, that headstock is just fabulous. Love it! The Salmon Spruce is a new one. But good wood deserves to end up--finally--in guitars. My favorite example is "winewood", which is redwood whose first gig was in large wine vats. Not sure it can walk a straight line, or carry a tune after the duty it was pressed into, but now it's free to try. What effects on the Sitka's color did its underwater stint produce? Steve |

My first sound port was on a second hand Hatcher, and I was really impressed with the sonic enhancement to the player space. Don't know about you but a lot of my guitar playing is for me, myself and I. Anytime I am doing a commission, I get one. Love em! There is one on the afore mentioned Kinnaird OMDB. Hope this helps. As you can see, I am a proponent of both.

It does. I'm going to do a bit more research on the sound ports - I'm not sure I like the aesthetics of a sound port....but your point is a good one since I generally play for personal enjoyment and relaxation. Thanks for your insights.

Hey Steve. Not sure it's had a color effect at all. I have seen some finished guitars which seem to have an early onset patina like Sitka after many years but none with any mineral streaking like one would see in Sinker Redwood. The set for my guitar looks pretty much like regular Sitka with nice silking. I'll have to consult with Bill and ask his experience.
