Additional refinement comes from contouring the scalloped braces, which adds sustain and delicate articulation to each CV-braced guitar. In general, guitars with CV bracing sound fuller and fatter without giving up articulation. They are also slightly louder. Please PM with any questions. No trades. Thanks. Nice guitar! Those who haven't played one of these before will be surprised at the amount of volume that comes out of this body style.

Wonderful guitar! With the bracing being what Taylor Is doing these days on their better guitars.... I wish they had revamped the jumbo and done it the way you ordered yours.... instead of dropping it from the lineup and creating the Grand Orchestra. Have you had a chance to compare it against a rosewood Grand Symphony or the Grand Orchestra? If so, what were your thoughts? ( I realize that you ordered your BTO jumbo with premium woods ). I would be very interested to hear. You can PM me with the answer if you prefer....
Thanks!

Hey Joe, Thanks for your interest. I have never directly compared it to a GO or GS model. I have only owned one Taylor previously, and that was a Leo Kottke 6 string jumbo. This one would smoke that guitar from what I recall of it...it wasn't very lively and I sold it after not too long. I have played the new G.O. models in stores, and I did not particularly like the tone of the ones I have played, and the shape and size (IMHO) makes it feel bigger than this jumbo. There was something kind of unfocused about the models I have played...I liked the GS models I have played much better, they are big sounding, but still focused and pretty balanced for a big guitar. This one definitely has more balls than most Taylors I have played. I have traditionally been a Guild guy, and have owned Martins and boutique builders as well. It has the BIG, rich tone of my old Guild F50R, but is way lighter, plays and feels way better in my hands, and is probably louder with less effort than all the guitars I have owned. |

If you are looking for a Taylor 814, 816, 818, GS, GO or dreadnought...consider this unique and boutique example from the Taylor custom shop.
Great deal on a special guitar. |
