Blue Spark SL Mic tested with BOURGEOIS and MARTIN acoustics
Hey there. I just acquired a couple of Blue Spark SL Condenser mics, which promise pro quality at an affordable price, and i tested one of them with My bourgeois and Martin guitars.
You can listen to the clips and read my review here: https://clevergear.rocks/blue-spark-...oustic-guitar/ Do you like how it sounds? |

I personally like the Bourgeois active.
For the Martin I liked the not active, but the Bourgeois both sound great.

The guitar recordings sound great!
The top slapping is too loud and annoying IMO. |

Generally speaking, I think the Bourgeois has a clearer "voice" - it is very very balanced and it allows the high notes to shine through the mix while sounding sweet and elegant.

And gotta agree with DukeX (a drum is a drum, and a guitar isn't), honestly the slapping is a detraction. Not to mention the technique has become a tedious cliche' at best. If you want to add percussion you could try using your fretting hand with single notes or full chord hammer on's for occasional accent

I posted a comment on FB.
So, I’ll be brief here. The Blues and both your guitars sound fine! The placement on the sound hole should be changed to behind and over the shoulder. See YouTube video of SoundPure’s demo of Eastman E20D! Lastly, lose the percussive soundboard hits. It’s distracting! Instead, try to develop a slap of the strings themselves. Check out YouTube video of Great John Martyn’s ‘You May Never’! Best to you! [emoji1365]❤️
