Hey Randall!
Always good to hear from another HG person. I'm not sure where I'm gonna go with tunings. My first inclination would be the Hedges route, only with six instead of five on the sub basses. Even though I've finally gotten acrylic nails, fingerstyle is not coming naturally. I just keep hearing the flatpick approach. I realize that's almost sacrilegious but its the form that I've written about twenty solo instrumental pieces in. I'm trying to be open to what I hear when I start playing it, anything could happen. :-)

That is a beautiful guitar. Please post clips when you have it, if you have time!

Tuning-wise, you don't have to commit to anything. Tuning pegs are for retuning things

Steve, one of the reasons I picked Duane, outside of his great tone, was the beauty of his woods. To drool over...

Understood. It happens. Some guys on guitar sites absolutely flip out when stuff like this happens, although they expect the world to cut them a break when they're the one in the hot seat. Such is life.

I'm typically very understanding because I tend to be followed by a black cloud.

Saw Andy McKee the other day and curiosity is getting the better of me. The outcome of the concert could get extremely expensive.

From my research, I think Duane is the best combo of price/quality/tone in a custom build. (But I like em on the warm end.) I can't imagine his prices staying at this level for very long. A McKee Greenfield or a Wingert would cost over twice as much. Or to put it another way, if its good enough for Antoine Dufour, its good enough for me.

Best of luck!

Gregg Miner seemed to think Duane Noble (and another guy whose name escapes me) are probably the best bang for the buck.

I suppose we're lucky the price tag is where it's at with Antoine Dufour. Perhaps he's just obscure enough at the moment. I'm well aware what famous musicians do to price tags.

Gluing the bridge for a fan fret, a little closer to the end. :-)
