Tal Farlow's "day job" was a sign painter. He was a very well respected and recorded jazz guitarist from New Jersey.

Wow, that never even entered my mind. I don't think I've ever seen a street sign with a bullet hole. Dented from people hitting them, yes.

As a younger man I moved to a very rural area. A new buddy took me out bird hunting but the spots we hit didn't produce. He then decided we should go "sign hunting". Something young guys did around there. Well... you can guess the rest.
