Default Santa Cruz FS

I recently acquired a new SCGC FS, all basic specs as listed at the SCGC website. I bought it without hearing or playing it first. I was not only not disappointed, I was extremely pleased with the FS. Using D'Addario EJ24 strings (3 med. & 3 lt. gauge strings) and tuned to DADGAD, it soars. Resonant, deep bass and crystal, pure treble highs. It's wonderful. The Cedar top is very responsive, and the quality of build is a good as any. For the price, both the build have greatly exceeded my expectations. This is a guitar designed for open tunings.

Hmmmmmm, I wonder how an OM Grand in African Blackwood / German would sound????? Just thinking......

Love the FS! It's one of the best fingerstyle guitars out there. Congrats!

Very nice looking guitar. SCGC is really one of the top makers. They use some really nice woods on their guitars. Always so clean and resonant.

Congrats!

I've tried to audition one for almost 2 years unsuccessfully. They must be amazing instruments for sure.

My FS Maple/German is a real joy to play.......It was built to play America's Ventura Hiway .
It is the only Palamino in the Remuda.
Try the SCGC Light Tension strings on it. Your FS is beautiful. I imagine the Cedar top is wonderfully Warm.
Congrats on joining the SCGC Clan.

Great guitar! Congratulations. Almost every SCGC guitar I’ve played has been exceptional.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but how do you like the light tension strings on SCGC? I tried the light tension strings on one of my 00s and it wasn't an improvement (for me). Easier to play, for sure, but the tone and the volume lost something. That's on the 00 though, maybe on others they respond differently.

I’ve always loved the FS. I believe that model came into being when Jeff Traugott was working there... At one point I talked to Richard about making one as a twelve string. May still do that one day....

The lights are pretty light. But the mids on the 00 sound killer

I string the FS with SCGC Lite Tensions because that is what Santa Cruz ships the instrument with...and I like the sound. I don't strum the FS as hard as the dreads.
If anyone has tried the Mids on an FS I would like to hear the opinions.
Maybe another thread ?....
