lpa53 thank you for the kind words about I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, especially the Nilsson comparison. I appreciate others' comments as well.

To answer your question, there's just one guitar. SoundCloud kinda buries the descriptor now with their song page design but here's a copy/paste of the instrumentation off that page: Simon & Patrick parlor guitar >> Fishman Rare Earth soundhole humbucker >> Tube Amp Factory hand-built 14-watt combo amp. The guitar’s in Open D tuning with capo on the 7th fret – leaving 5 unobstructed frets to work with - so Key of A. Recorded live into the Free Hi-Q MP3 Recorder on my Android Phone using whatever mic is built-into the phone.

I visit Hoffman's shop every chance I get when I'm in the Cities (will be there this coming week) and it is indeed hard not to walk off with something new. Still, one of the times I'm up that way I'd love to visit Olson's place as I've never seen one of his instruments up close an personal.

My health issue is stable. Mayo Clinic actually presented a paper on it at the 2012 American Neurological Society annual meeting. Getting back to playing the guitar was an important part of my rehab.
Glad to hear you are doing well.

My daily commute takes me right past (as in I could reach out and touch it) Hoffman's shop. I hardly ever go in though because it is too painful to try out guitars like that when I am not in a position to be buying one! There was one in particular that I really wanted to take home with me last year. All of them are lovely works of art, they all play wonderfully, and they have a wide range of tonal characteristics. And they just seem to be getting better and better.

Gorgeous! Makes me want to do more with my 12-sttring now!

i listened to this a few times, thanks. you put a lot of work and care into it, and it had a simple but pleasing message. i liked the harmony vocals, and thought they filled it out nicely.

that was neat. i liked how you gave it your own spin, and how it picked up as it went along.

Had to do a ton of takes and this one's tempo is still too fast!
I'd like to get better post-processing of the audio, too.

you did a very fine job. you have a nice voice, and i liked the guitar parts as well (it's been years since i've heard the original). i thought the tempo was good.

Default Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues_Danny O’Keefe_1972

https://soundcloud.com/vern-equinox/...-charlie-take2

Another sad song I associate with the season. Production notes on the SC page. Love Danny O’Keefe’s songs. When I first played this one in the 70s I was on keyboards – Fender Rhodes via a Twin Reverb – adding musical diversion to the core rhythm, if that makes sense. Arranging for fingerstyle guitar I found myself back at the core of the thing just trying to set a platform for my voice. The intro is part of an instrumental I wrote in 1976 called Franconia (NH) where I lived for a while. (Apologies for background noise. Someday I’ll have a more quiet space to record.)

Hope others will post more Fall Songs! Just 5 days left!

Thanks, I appreciate the listens and comments. Wish I knew then what I know now about recording - recorded and mixed on a little Boss BR600 recorder.

Indeed.

One of my regrets is that I don't have time to explore more of the music of members here in the Show and Tell forum (and to give nice feedback, which is always nice when people post things).
