Brit trad song: I Once Loved A Lass / False Bride
A traditional tune common in Scotland and England, and occasional, at least, in Ireland. This is quite an old song, as a version of the lyrics was in print in the late 1600s. I’ve incorporated some verses from a closely related song, A Week Before Easter. The last verse was added by Ewan McColl and Peggy Seeger in the 1950s. I learned it from Pentangle. The melody was used by Richard Fariņa in Birmingham Sunday. For much, much. much more history see https://www.justanothertune.com/html/ilal.html Last edited by Dave Hicks; 05-06-2024 at 11:47 AM. |
