Default Playing cross-tuned in open G

Originally recorded on my first CD, Crossing Crystal Lake, this is The Light In The Distance.

It's played in open G tuning, capo 2, but played off the IV chord, hence key of D.

The closest equivalent would be when a C harmonica is played in the key of G, which is referred to as cross-harp.

It's one of the 'churchiest' pieces I've composed, especially coming up from the IImin, etc.

Enjoy!

Howard

Very well done, Howard! I know that song from your first album! How nice to hear you play it live with a slightly different feel!

I always love the groove you manage to find in every one of your compositions! Just excellent!

Hi Glenn,
Thank you for listening!

Yes, after so many years it's nice to finally get a handle on how to really play a piece, and your comparison perspective really gives you a clear view of the evolutionary changes.

Duke Ellington & Irving Mills are still right: It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.
