Well, the guitar I've owned the longest is my Gibson-Epiphone solid TB&S bird's eye maple acoustic, bought new in 1994. I'm sure that's what you meant.
The oldest guitar I own is my ~1970 Epiphone Rivoli (EA 260 really). My 1970 Yamaha FG 420-12 is probably the oldest guitar I own, not necessarily the one I've had the longest. I've had it less time than the Riv. 1976 Fender Stratocaster hardtail natural I've had since 1994. |

I have a FG 140 that I've had since about '72, about 45 years.

After reading this post and many more describing lengthy ownership stats -- I am no longer impressed with my mere 39-1/2 years with my Yairi

Hey, 39 1/2 is nothing to sneeze at! Probably older than a lot of members here.

Actually probably just a few - I think our average age at AGF is somewhere in the 50s

Here's my Guild F-212, I got it new in August of 1965, still have it.
[IMG][/IMG] Second longest is a Guild Mark V bought in 1975. Brad

Yes I think you're right. I remember a poll here awhile back about the age of the members. I fell in the 60's group

The Yamaha FG-420-12 was made 1985 to 1989. So it's about 30 years old.
The only 12 string they made in 1970 was the FG-230 (common) and the FG-550 (rare). |

I bought my 1974 Alvarez 5023 in the spring of 1975. I think I paid $150, which included a cardboard case.
It was my only guitar for 25 years, and I played the heck out of it. It's worn out now, but I still keep it around. With an adjustable bridge and all-laminate body you wouldn't think that it would sound like much, but it actually sounds like a million bucks! Looks nice too, the top has turned kind of a amber/pumpkin color.

I also had an FG-140 made in the early 70s. I wish I still had it. |

Since 1971 or '72. Gibson J-200. (Not counting the old solid body Klira electric my folks bought me to learn on about '62 or '63).

My oldest guitar is a circa 1920 Washburn I've owned for a couple of years. The guitar I've currently owned the longest is a Tacoma Papoose, bought somewhere around 2011...? Didn't play it much, I'm currently whittling down so it will be fun to dig it out and see which pile it ends up in, I suspect the keeper pile.
I wish I still had the first Goya G-10 that a friend gave me 34 years ago when she got her Alvarez. That pup had a little mojo, all that solid flamed birch... Last edited by TKT; 08-23-2017 at 01:03 AM. |
