Just thought of one of my favorite exchanges:

Kramer: "It's a write off for them, Jerry!"

Jerry: "Do you even know what a write off is?"

Kramer: "No, I don't...but they do and they're the ones writing it off."

I assume that when posters are nominating "The Office" as one of their favs, that they are referring to the original British show?

I am a huge admirer of many American sitcoms, Seinfeld, Cheers, even Friends, among others, but the American version of "The Office" totally missed the mark IMO.

I thought the first few years of the American version was great.

I am curious. Are you being serious, that you would dismiss an individual based on their preference in sit-coms?

LOL. Seinfeld is one of those guys that you want to just punch him in the face for existing. Therefore I never got into the show. But I did love Fraser and Coach (my all time favorite.)

OK, now you've done it. Frazier was great. Did you ever see him play Great Balls of Fire?

Favorite episode is when George is pretending to be a marine biologist and has to save a whale that can't breath because there is a golf ball that Kreamer hit into the ocean, stuck in the blow hole. When George shows Kreamer the ball his reaction is, "Is it a Titelist?...."Hole in one!"
All three plot strings were tied up in the last 30 seconds.

Arrested Development is right up there w/ Seinfeld as far as the quality of the writing.

I'm a huge Seinfeld fan, but I think Arrested Development is the best sitcom ever made. It's now my yard stick when it comes to sitcoms. The writing on it is the smartest writing on a sitcom ever. I've watched every episode of Arrested Development at least three times and every time I watch it, I find something new I did not notice before... pure genius!

Well for me personally, I probably wouldn't end a friendship based on that, but I would know immediately that we have no where near the same sense of humor if the person did not care for Seinfeld. It honestly, would cause me to feel differently about said person.

I agree that there are so many subtle references and inside jokes on A.D. that you have to watch a few times to catch them. I also liked the ongoing story line from show to show. It made me wonder where they were going next.
There is supposed to be a movie coming out, but before the movie debut they are planning to have several shows to set up the movie. Can't wait.
