I found out about Joel Stehr guitars from Hen, when we first started talking last year. I instantly became a big fan of Joel's superlative artistry. His work represents what I consider to be the best of post-20th century lutherie.

At present, Joel and I both have guitars in production for Henderson. I feel honored to be a colleague of Joel in this way. We've become buddies, shooting emails back and forth, and if everything works out, we'll be gathering the Washington State Luthier's Posse together next summer, and going down to the Healdsburg Guitar Festival with some of our best work.

If, by some highly improbable circumstance, I strike it rich anytime soon, one of the first things I'm gonna do is get on Joel's build list. He's a luthier's luthier. All you lucky folks that have, or will have a Stehr guitar, I'd say you've made a very wise investment.

Wow - very nice words.. and coming from a fellow luthier. Makes me feel even better that I have a guitar made by Joel.

Congratulations again, Hen, and keep 'em pictures comin'!

Hen,

one gorgeous guitar, can't wait to see it completed. Did you get a little deeper body on the Auditorium?

Hi Karl...nope, I went with the standard body depth for the Auditorium. The pics may give an illusion of depth...but its just an illusion

Looks like Joel has my guitar strung up and "listening" to music in his shop (he said he's playing Britney Spears to her over and over, I said that too much Britney is gonna make her a "wild child" ).

Anyway, he said he should be sending out pics tomorrow morning, so those of you on his email list will get pics of my guitar the same time I do.

I'll post them up for everyone else to see once he sends them out. Aloha! Hen

Default Pictures!

I know some of you received these from Joel this morning, but for everyone else, here's the pics of the #4 guitar in the Hula Girl series. A Stehr Auditorium, African Blackwood Back/Side, Sinker Redwood Top, with Sound Port, Cutaway and Arm Rest Bevels.

Exceptional!! Love the inlay from the headstock down onto the fingerboard.

And the little lady looks very cool as well!

Great job all!
